The Shell Bots are an FIRST Tech Challenge team based in Waverly Iowa.
What is FTC?

FTC is a robotics competition where every year, a new challenge is granted to test the skills of each team's engineering skills. This year (2025-2026 season) the game is called DECODE.

In DECODE, teams are challenged to design, build, and program a robot capable of working alongside another team’s robot to complete a series of intricate objectives. Throughout each match, robots decode visual patterns, deliver pixels onto a backdrop grid, navigate a dynamic field filled with barriers and bonus zones, and strategically coordinate with their alliance partner to earn the highest possible score. The competition blends precision engineering, coding, and teamwork — pushing teams to think critically and innovate under pressure.

Last year, the Shell Bots led their team all the way to the Iowa State Championship, showcasing exceptional collaboration, design creativity, and a passion for problem-solving. This season, they’re ready to tackle DECODE with even more ambition and drive!
